On The Earth Day, April 22nd, our high school students (year 1 and 3) were encouraged to clean up the land nearby the school of rubbish. Armed with rubber gloves and rubbish bins they set out and almost immediately after leaving the school grounds got busy picking up all sorts of rubbish: cigarette buds, empty cans and bottles, paper packaging, etc. They worked together. They seemed to have fun doing it, even competing with one another. Some chosen students responsible for the action (volunteers) took photos. During the event, the students also filmed short videos to document their efforts and raise awareness about the importance of keeping our surroundings clean. They fostered deeper understanding of individual responsibilities. The activity encouraged teamwork and collaboration and provided a meaningful and interactive experience of environmental issues.

The activity was part of an environmental education initiative. Students showed great teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the day. The recorded videos will be used in a school presentation and shared on social media to inspire others.
