PL25 CVC CC Visit to the Zoological Garden

During their stay in Warsaw, between the lessons for both groups, the students were given an opportunity to visit Warsaw zoo, one of the oldest and biggest gardens of this type in Poland. Visiting the zoo was not guided. It was a group activity and students could admire animals in pairs or bigger groups. The zoo is relatively big and spacious and the students could see a wide variety of domestic and exotic species of animals, including various types of monkeys, kangaroos, lions and beautiful cheetahs, giraffes, donkeys and antilopes, different types of birds, fish, amphibians and reptiles, to name just a few, The students were instructed to acquaint themselves with short information on a given species, its Polish, English and Latin name as well as typical habitat. They could also become familiarised with a moving story of the Zabiński family – the director of the zoo during World War 2 who not only supported the animals to survive the atrocities of the dark times but also helped tens of Jews who were hidden in the zoo during the Nazi occupation. In the zoo it is possible to see the mansion that belonged to the Zabiński family back then. The sunny weather allowed the students to enjoy the time outside. It was also a moment of natural and friendly integration of the project participants – both the students and their teachers.  
 During the visit to the zoo, the participants of the Erasmus + programme could not only see a richness of fauna and flora of Warsaw zoo, but they could also take amazing pictures, increase their English vocabulary related to the species of animals and get to know their partners better. The final product is a collection of wonderful pictures showing beautiful animals and instances of international friends shown against the background of unique nature. Apart from a zoo lesson and a sightseeing tour, visiting the zoo was an excellent component of the trip to Warsaw.
