Before the project, the Mazovian Academy staff and students from Płock, Poland, had prepared the symposium on modern perspectives towards school as well as the guided tour of the university facilities sharing duties of being responsible for the event. Secodary school teachers from Estonia, France,  Italy, Portugal, Romania, Serbia and Poland were invited to participate in the 3 hour symposium conducted by the university staff and students. The Polish Erasmus+ office staff shared their experience on international collaboration with over 100 universities and colleges all over the world, university  staff and students then shared their knowledge of the Polish, Canadian, American and British educational systems, personal experiences of Erasmus+ exchange at Istanbul Marmaris University as well as the issue of the use of social media in the Polish educational system. Then the guests were invited on the guided tour of the university during which they moved to the building of the university on the ground floor and laboratories located on floors 1 and 2. Having taken the tour they gathered in the lobby for the memory photo. Throughout the guided tour questions were asked and reflections exchanged. In this way, the teachers sensitized each other to the similarities and differences between the academic educational facilities. The foreign teachers were keen to ask questions and enter some classrooms and labs to observe the academic life in progress.

 

Aims and skills targeted :

To get the knowledge of the local university – the Mazovian Academy in Płock, and the system of the Polish tertiary education;

To let the Polish university academic staff and students guide the guests and share te knowledge of the Polish educational system, university Erasmus+ programmes, international perspective on education to enhance cross-cultural communication and mutual academic understanding.

To integrate the secondary teachers with the Polish university staff and make them realize the correlation between the academic collaboration and people’s well-being, identity and self-expression.

To promote the knowledge of foreign languages as tools to express knowledge, views and ideas.

To improve language skills and teamwork.

 

 

Results

The result was the guest teachers getting the knowledge on the topography, history and functioning of the Polish university. They were capable of getting comparative knowledge of the Polish educational system vs those of the English speaking countries, university Erasmus+ academic exchanges as well as the issue of the use of social media in education.They integrated with the the university staff and students. There were photos taken of both the symposium and the guided tour of the facilities as well as the memory photo taken in the university lobby. The whole action was distributed on school and university social media as an action promoting linguistic collaboration in order to promote the cultural communication and respectful understanding.
