In the face of climate change, Dunkirk is innovating to invent a more virtuous, low-carbon industry of the future, a source of jobs and a better quality of life for local residents. All of the region's players are working together to develop innovative initiatives, particularly in the nuclear and battery sectors, and in the use of waste heat and hydrogen. This commitment to decarbonisation and the sense of community that is characteristic of the Dunkirk area have enabled it to regain its industrial dynamism and economic attractiveness, and to create more than 20,000 jobs for the future, which ‘La Fabuleuse factory’ presented over 6 days.

During a 2-hour visit, the students were divided into groups to discover the industrial identity of our region. Concrete projects at the cutting edge of innovation, the professions of the future and women in industry, the role of digital technology at the heart of these changes, through an immersive and interactive tour made up of experiments and manipulations, exchanges and challenges (3D Visits, Scientific Experiments, Fun Immersion, Testimonials, Big Quiz, Serious Game, Educational Trails, Village of the Future). They were able to meet a number of players involved in the region's transition as part of the Dunkirk, Creative Energy dynamic: major historical industrial companies (ArcelorMittal, Aluminium Dunkerque, AstraZeneca, Ball Packaging, Coca-Cola, etc.), energy companies (EDF, Engie, RTE, Dalkia, etc.), new establishments (Verkor, H2V, ProLogium, Orano-XTC New Energy, Suez, etc.), networks of small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs), etc.). ), networks of small and medium-sized industries and subcontractors, as well as schools (ULCO, EILCO, IMT, etc.) and associations (ATMO, Ecopal, Observatoire Local de la Santé, CLI/SPPPI, etc.).

Organised at the very beginning of the schoolyear, this visit gave the students who had just started at Lycée Jean Bart the opportunity to get to know each other better and to be introduced to the Racine+ project by tackling sustainable development issue in a fun way. 3 pairs of volunteer students were responsible for producing written and video reports on the activity.
