FR25 HA Joy Playlists
11 mars 2025The workshop took place at the end of the mobility week, with the French and Slovakian students (the Irish students had already left).
First of all, an exchange with the Slovak and French students was organized about ‘The Ode to Joy’, its origin (Ninth Symphony composed in 1823 by Ludwig van Beethoven, who set to music the ‘Ode to Joy’, a poem written in 1785 by Friedrich von Schiller) and its adoption in 1972 by the Council of Europe and in 1985 by the Heads of State and Government of the Member States as the official anthem of the European Union, evoking the ideals of freedom, peace and solidarity embodied by Europe.
The students were then divided into groups :
Each group of students presented their playlist of songs symbolising joy in a video in which each presented their song and then developed their argument justifying the choice of their favourite song from the playlist. One student from the group was chosen to edit the video. This activity enabled everyone to develop their musical culture and compare points of view. While presenting their song, they realised that joy is an emotion or a feeling of satisfaction or pleasure that is difficult to define because it can come from different sources from one person to another.
