PL26 LC HA Visit to Warsaw

The visit of our guest teachers to Warsaw was a unique opportunity to explore the rich cultural and historical heritage of Poland’s capital.

The group began with a walk through the vibrant city center, where modern life blends seamlessly with historical architecture. We then continued to the Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, admired for its colorful townhouses and charming atmosphere. A highlight of the tour was the Barbican, a historic defensive structure that once protected the city, followed by a stop at the famous Mermaid statue – the symbol of Warsaw.

The teachers also stopped by the Royal Castle, a magnificent residence of Polish monarchs, which stands as a testament to the country’s royal past. Our walk continued along Krakowskie Przedmieście, one of the most elegant streets in Warsaw, where we passed the Presidential Palace and experienced the prestigious surroundings of the University of Warsaw and the Academy of Fine Arts.

The visit concluded near the Palace of Culture and Science, one of the most recognizable landmarks in the city, offering a striking contrast between Warsaw’s historical and modern identity.

Aims and skills targeted :

To get the orienteering knowledge of the school hosting, its topography

To let the Polish students guide the guests and share knowledge of the school history, facilities and functioning to enhance cross cultural communication and mutual understanding.

To integrate the students and make them realize the correlation between the school facilities and people’s well-being, identity and self-expression.

To promote the knowledge of foreign languages as tools to express knowledge, views and ideas..

To improve language skills and teamwork.

Results : 

The result was the guest teachers getting the knowledge on some topography and history of the capital city. The walk was a great chance to integrate more within the project’s teaching community. There were photos taken of the Polish and guest teachers actively participating in the tour. The main goal of the visit was to present the richness of Warsaw’s culture and history, highlighting the city’s resilience, diversity, and unique character. The whole action was distributed on school social media as an action promoting linguistic collaboration in order to promote the cultural communication and respectful understanding.
