The pupils took part in an activity organised by the NGO OIKOS. During this activity, they were introduced to the biodiversity of the River Lis catchment area.

Subsequently, water samples collected from the river were analysed and the macroinvertebrates were identified.

Using the data collected, it was possible to assess the river’s water quality and quantify the pollution present in this watercourse.

It was also an opportunity to reflect on the loss of biodiversity resulting from water pollution and on the importance of preserving drinking water resources for humanity and the planet.

At the end of the activity, after applying the tables based on the national reference standards, it was concluded, on the basis of the macroinvertebrates identified, that the river’s water quality was good.
