During an initial 3-hour workshop, the students met a volunteer from the e-graine association, who told them about the origins and missions of this citizens' movement, which is defined by its belief in a sustainable and fair future for all and its dream of a more united and responsible world. Their main topics are : a fairer ecological transition, a more virtuous economy, more inclusive societies, a more participative democracy, etc. The mediator then got them to think about ecology through some games played in teams : the game of 2 truths / a lie, the game of shifting debates where they were asked to debate 2 questions : Should there be 3 vegetarian meals a week in the canteen ? Should internal flights in France be banned ? They then played the jardiquiz, a quiz in which they had to classify statements according to the categories ‘ecological’, ‘superheroes’, ‘both’, then ‘the vegetable garden game’ on the issues of ‘conspiracy and theory’, ‘climate change’, ‘responsible consumption’ and ‘resources’. At the end, a debate was organised with all the students to validate and/or invalidate the climate inaction discourse.

The following week, in a second 3-hour workshop, the mediator again divided the class into 4 teams, who competed against each other on the objectives of sustainable development. A brainstorming session was then organised to define the Conferences of Parties in detail : their origins (IPCC, the COPs that have made history), the signatory countries, the objectives, and finally the issues at stake at COP28 and COP29. Finally, the students were again divided into groups to think about the concepts of adaptation / mitigation in the field of ecology. The workshop ended with a summary of each group's proposals.

The students discovered how a movement for education in global citizenshiṕ works, which starts from the observation that we need to change our lifestyles in a context of global crisis (ecological, economic, identity, political, social...). Through a variety of games, brainstorming sessions and debates, they were encouraged to distinguish between adaptation (acting on the consequences of climate change) and mitigation (acting on its causes), to experiment with the collective dimension to understand that, without dialogue and collaboration between the players involved, an adaptation measure risks failure when it is implemented, and to understand the urgency. These workshops served as preparation for the COP29 simulation in which the students were then trained.
