During the first preparatory meeting for the project, it was agreed to organise 2 virtual visits between the project partner schools during the school year. Each school prepared the first meeting with 3 presentations:1-I love my city and why 2-Specific innovative aspects (sustainable development & heritage and culture) about the city 3-One action only in my country. Pairs of students from each school began by presenting their respective cities using slideshows and videos. Other pairs then demonstrated the innovative nature of each city :- Dunkirk : innovations in free garbage bag and sorting, drinking water, free buses and an industry in decarbonisation - Marinha Grande: a project to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide released into the air by using microalgae, and Algafarm, where this operation is taking place; then the Secil cement company, which focuses on sustainability – Palermo : how the Molo Trapezoidale has been transformed into a modern, sustainable public space with green zones and cycle paths, how the once neglected Foro Italico is now a popular waterside promenade where people can relax in nature. A city which is also investing in new green spaces and reducing the number of cars – Tallinn : innovation as services (e. voting, sel service driving buses, delivery bots) ; presentation of Telliskivi, a creative city located on the site of the former Baltic Railways factory, Noblessner, a former submarine manufacturing plant, now modern flats, Põhjala Tehas a rubber industry transformed into a dynamic cultural centre, the Rotermann district, an early 19th century industrial district distinguished by the diversity of its new buildings and its reconstructed old industrial buildings, including the former flour warehouse and the Metro Plaza). Finally, pairs from each school presented an action they had carried out as part of the Racine+ project - Dunkirk : an action carried out in collaboration with an association that defines itself by its belief in a sustainable and equitable future for all and its dream of a more united and responsible world, which taught students about the environment and got them thinking about global warming, from the local to the international level, and which culminated in a COP29 simulation in the form of a role play - Marinha Grande : the students went to a nursery school and a primary school to present songs, legends and local traditions from the region, through theatre scenes and traditional music from Marinha Grande called ‘mãos vidreiras’ - glass workers hands - Palermo : an action on the environmental impact of food, where students compared their eating styles, reflected on common mistakes and gave suggestions for a more sustainable diet - Tallinn : visit to Rakett 69, a science workshop for young people in the innovative town of Ülemiste, which aims to promote engineering among young people. One of the highlights of the workshop was the ‘Build your own potato sorter’ challenge, where the students had to design and build a machine capable of sorting bales of different sizes without any outside help.
