PL25 EC Developing a long-term animal adoption campaign among local schools

In the international groups students make a movie with the main objective to promote adoption of shelter animals by caring and supportive owners who are aware of all the responsibilities coming from the adoption. The films would be the prototypes  for a  professional adoption movie that may be  recorded in  each school separately with the references to the local needs. The prototype movie will feature cuddly pet toys while the professional ones should include real shelter animals to pull at viewers heart strings. 

Students, working in groups, divide tasks and responsibilities among themselves. Together they establish the idea and vision of the film. They discuss what they want to convey, what they want to draw attention to in the film being made. The goal is to encourage others to adopt pets. At the same time, students learn responsibility for completing the task, with the awareness that they have to reach as many people as possible with the message.

 Having realized how student councils and school voluntary clubs can easily promote adoption of homeless animals from the shelters, students become willing to introduce similar solutions locally and finally start working on a global scale. Students deepen their understanding on how crucial the interaction with pets is for their mental health and well-being. They learn about animals physical and emotional needs and the importance of providing them with proper care. Participants of the project find it right to act on behalf of the ones that have no voice. Students gain awareness of the dangers of backyard pet breeding, they are discouraged from supporting such inhumane practises by not buying pets from them but rather preferring the adoption of a shelter animal. They also improve filmmaking skills that will enable them to make a professional film in collaboration with local shelter later on.
