This activity aimed to engage students and teachers in environmental activism, by aknowledge the impact that human action has on pollution and invite everyone to act, taking part also in the solution. We have invited “One Piece After Another” that is a movement formed by a group of volunteers established in 2019 that fights against environmental pollution in the Leiria region, through cleanup and awareness initiatives. ​

It is primarily focused on cleaning beaches in our region, aiming to keep our oceans healthy. So we took off to Praia Velha, and everyone joined the association in the spot, giving the instructions:​

- Students should form groups with students from different countries to participate in the beach cleanup campaign.​

- Each group should cover at least 1km of shoreline during the clean-up activity;​

- Then, the groups should properly sort 100% of collected waste for recycling or disposal ​

- Each group has to document findings with photographs.​

​The aim of this clean-up campaign was to collect a minimum of 70kg of waste materials, but at the end, the group was able to collect 250kg what was considered a success but also a sign of alert.
