BA Glass is a glass factory present in 7 countries, producing over 9 billion containers annually. With a total of 12 plants and around 3700 employees, BA distributes glass packaging to more than 60 countries around the world. They were awarded as "The Most Sustainable Company in the Glass Industry - 2020", by World Finance and were chosen as an example of excellence, innovation and leadership in social and environmental commitments. They were also recognized for their usage of renewable energy, reduction of gas, water usage, and CO2 emissions, and for their initiative to help customers in reducing packaging.
The students and teachers will be/were received by the BA safety technicians, that, after a theoretical presentation of the factory, where they showed what they do, how they do it (the industrial processes) and the quality requirements when producing glass that will be used for food storage, they were equiped with safety garments (robe, hairnet, glasses and sound canceling earplugs). They also showed how they are changing the processes to adapt to a more eco-friendly production, how they produce new glass by using more and more shard, that come from recycling companies.
Following the introduction, the students and the teachers were divided in 3 groups and began the visit of the factory.
