After the Earth Day 3 students of 1 year volunteered to write and article for the school website. They chose 3 topics: eco fashion, cleaning up and recycling. They talked through these and decided to write from a teen’s perspective. Other students (year 3) worked together and came up with an idea of an exhibition of memes. In a fun and clever way they presented some eco-gestures. They looked for good captions and appropriate visuals, then used their IT skills to create mini-posters of them. They hang their memes all around the school halls. The students increased awareness of the importance of acting in an eco-friendly way. We observe that they strengthened bonds between students through collaborative actions.

The students created and article and an exhibition for others to enjoy. They mastered English writing and IT skills. They also fostered deeper understanding of individual responsibilities towards the environmental and encouraged teamwork and collaboration. In our opinion, the students provided a meaningful and interactive experience of environmental issues.

Do we need eco gestures?

Are we fed up with just talking about how important being eco friendly is? We all know the theory but do we ever do as we preach? Here are merely three of many ways of caring for the planet we could put into practice.

* RECYCLING

Recycling means taking things we’ve already used—like plastic bottles, cans, or paper—and turning them into something new instead of throwing them away. It’s one of the easiest ways we can do to make a real difference for the environment. By recycling, we reduce waste, cut down on pollution, and help keep nature clean and safe. It also means we use fewer natural resources, like trees or water, which aren’t unlimited. Without recycling, trash just keeps piling up, hurting animals, people, and the planet. Recycling is not just a habit—it’s a smart and meaningful action that shapes our lives and helps protect the Earth’s future.

* CLEANING UP

Cleaning up public places like parks, beaches and forests is an essential way of keeping nature safe, preserve the wild and beautiful. By cleaning up you improve the quality of living, yours as well as others’. Litter can harm animals and pollute the environment. By participating in clean-up events or simply picking up trash during walks, you can make a great change in your area. It's important to be responsible and not leave rubbish behind. If we work together, we can keep our surroundings clean and enjoyable for everyone. Unless we stop littering, in the near future our world will look like a trashcan was knocked over it

*FAST FASHION

Fast fashion id definitely harmful to the planet and seems to be getting bigger and scarier. It means  producting lots of cheap clothes very quickly, which leads to overconsumption and waste. Most of these clothes are made from synthetic fabrics, like polyester, that don’t break down easily and pollute the earth for hundreds of years. The production process uses huge amounts of water and energy, while releasing harmful chemicals and greenhouse gases. Additionally, workers in this industry often face poor conditions and low wages. As a result, fast fashion not only harms the environment but also supports unethical labor practices. To fight it we could for example try to buy less and choose second hand and more eco-friendly clothing.
