The Patron Saint:

In this activity, students were divided into three groups. Each group had previously prepared a PowerPoint presentation (in PPTX format) that focused on one specific custom associated with the tradition of celebrating a family patron saint in their respective countries. During the classroom presentations, students explained the content of the attached photo from their slide deck, describing not only the visual elements but also their cultural and symbolic significance. They elaborated on how the custom is typically celebrated, highlighting elements such as rituals, food, music, decorations, and family gatherings. Furthermore, students discussed the deeper meaning behind the custom, exploring the values it embodies and promotes, such as unity, respect for tradition, spirituality, hospitality, and community belonging.

Customs of the Nation They Come From:

In the second part of the project, each group chose a cultural custom from their own nation — with full freedom in selecting the topic. These customs could be religious, secular, seasonal, or linked to life events (such as weddings, harvests, or coming-of-age traditions). In their presentations, students provided an overview of the custom's background, including whether it has ancient or more recent origins. They also explained who typically participates in the custom — whether it involves individuals, families, or larger communities. After all three groups had shared their presentations, they moved on to a creative activity: each group selected one custom from their presentation, created a short dramatization of it, and recorded a 1–1.5-minute video showcasing the performance. These videos aimed to visually convey the essence of the tradition and allowed students to engage with their cultural heritage in an imaginative and collaborative way.
