ES25 CC EP Climate school, CO2 card game
29 avr. 2025 Students gathered in the class to learn more about climate change and play cards about the CO2 impact of daily activities.
Meeting started with the warm up activities. Students had to think about their feelings this morning, and how well they know the climate change topic. They had to show how strongly they feel about it and if they think their actions affect the climate by moving around the classroom.
After these preparations, the presenter from Mondo, Estonia, gave a little test about the factors affecting climate, including volcanoes, burning fossil fuels, solar radiation, overconsumption, destruction of the natural habitat and others. These factors were discussed and illustrated with the photos from different parts of the world.
Next it was taught what the greenhouse effect is and what the effect of the greenhouse effect on the environment are. Students had the possibility to share their knowledge. The main greenhouse gases are CO2, methane CH4, nitrous oxides NOx and fluorinated gases CFCs. The effects are wide and there is no area what is not affected. Some parts of the world suffer more than others, but all are responsible of the lifestyle choices they make.
After discussion and theoretical presentation the CO2 card game cards were shared to the groups of students. The cards originate from https://climatecallgame.com/ and they are adapted to the country. Students worked in pairs, discussed the impact of each action described on the card, and then ordered the cards based on their assumption of the CO2 equivalent levels they produce.
Students learned a lot and enjoyed the game. It made them think more about the impact of their actions and actions of the world overall.
