The activity took place at the Regional Salinas Archaeological Museum. The students were divided into six groups.

The activity took place in two stages: first, there was a tour of the museum, focusing in particular on the metope rooms and the statue of Zeus.

Next, the students were given a questionnaire inviting them to reflect on the meaning of specific myths (Hercules, Proserpina, Medusa), starting from the identification of the character in question in one of the metopes.

Finally, they were asked to carry out a group project, accompanied by photos, clips and material collected on site, concerning the experience as a whole.

The activity attracted the students. Moving from the telling of myths and knowledge of “history” to the visual inspection of artefacts dating back 2,500 years fascinated most of the students, and this was evident in their frequent requests for further information and clarification.

Seeing ancient artefacts such as vases, jewellery and tools led the students to “immerse” themselves in an ancient world of gods, monsters and heroes. Working in groups also strengthened the bonds between the participants, overcoming any cultural and personality differences.
