IT26 HA PSLL - Cooking workshop: "Cultural identity in the flavours of European cuisine"
16 févr. 2026Before coming to Palermo, the partner schools were given the task to think of two simple recipes (1 savory recipe and 1 sweet recipe for each country) that revealed the cultural identity of their own country.
Every school prepared a card with the ingredients together with the written explanation of the execution of the recipes and their history.
The dishes were prepared during the cooking workshop that was held at a vocational school. The students alternated in the kitchen to cook the different recipes.
They were helped by some specialised students and their teachers. They had great fun during the cooking lab and documented the activity with photos and videos which were used to create an European cooking ebook.
In the end, their satisfaction skyrocketed when the students were able to eat lunch made from dishes they had cooked themselves.
Students enjoyed working together for a common task, they could feel directly involved in the project and understood to have been a little piece of the puzzle for the success of the activity.
They tasted food from other countries opening up to other cultures through the discovery of different flavours and culibary traditions and used the English language to communicate with their peers and teachers for a common goal.
