ES L CELEBRATING MOTHER TONGUE DAY

Our school celebrated Mother Tongue Week from March 11th to 14th with a variety of activities designed to promote appreciation of language, literature, and cultural heritage. The main aim of the week was to strengthen students’ language skills, encourage creativity, and highlight the importance of the mother tongue in everyday life.

Students of different age groups participated in activities tailored to their level. Primary school students explored phraseologisms and proverbs through drawing workshops, and their work was displayed in an exhibition. Students in grades 5–7 practised public speaking and language awareness by reciting proverbs, while grades 8–9 took part in a quiz on frequently misspelled words. Gymnasium students participated in an e-recital and attended guest lectures by writers and language experts, gaining deeper insights into language, literature, and communication.

The whole school community was involved in a word competition, where students and staff could suggest the most beautiful word and a word of wisdom. The winning word was “Love”, reflecting values that are important to the school community.

These activities helped students develop language proficiency, creativity, communication skills, and cultural awareness. At the same time, the shared events brought together students and teachers from different age groups, fostering a stronger sense of belonging, cooperation, and community spirit throughout the school.
