SB26 HA - Belgrade Media Challenge
22 mai 2026The Belgrade Media Challenge was designed as an interactive, city-based learning activity in which students worked in groups of ten to create a video report while exploring key landmarks of Belgrade. Acting as television reporters, students combined observation, research, discussion, and creative storytelling to present the city from multiple perspectives. At each location, Serbian students took the role of introducing the site, providing key facts, historical background, and its significance, while also guiding the discussion through prepared questions. Visiting students actively participated by sharing impressions, responding to questions, and contributing to the collective video narrative. The format ensured that all students were engaged in front of and behind the camera, with some participants appearing multiple times as commentators. The itinerary included some of the most important cultural, historical, and institutional sites in Belgrade: St. Sava Temple and the National Library, the National Assembly of Serbia, the National Theatre, the National Museum of Serbia, the Students’ Rectorate of the University of Belgrade, the Statue of the Victor (Pobednik), and Kalemegdan Fortress. Each location was approached through a specific thematic lens such as spirituality, knowledge, politics, art, education, symbolism, and history.Students were given structured tasks at each stop, encouraging them to reflect on questions related to civic life, cultural heritage, education, identity, and historical development. Through these tasks, they explored how public spaces and institutions reflect the values and evolution of society. The activity culminated in a final media challenge where each group presented their conclusion: “The Most Interesting Place in Belgrade is…”, supported by collective reasoning and reflection.
