Description :

As part of the educational activities in Gniezno, the students took part in practical workshops devoted to Slavic legends and traditional storytelling. They explored selected legends, discovering their origins, cultural significance and the symbols associated with Slavic beliefs and traditions. The students learned about traditional characters, motifs and symbolic elements that played an important role in Slavic folklore. These stories provided inspiration for their own creative work and helped them understand how legends reflected the beliefs, values and imagination of earlier generations. During the practical workshops, students created their own stories and legends based on the tales they had heard and discovered. They developed original plots, introduced their own characters and incorporated traditional Slavic symbols and motifs into their narratives.The activities encouraged students to experiment with storytelling, express their ideas and use their imagination. By combining cultural learning with creative writing, the workshops offered an engaging way to explore Slavic heritage and discover how traditional stories can inspire new forms of artistic expression.

Results :   

The workshops broadened students’ knowledge of Slavic legends, folklore and cultural symbols. Students gained a better understanding of the role of legends in preserving cultural traditions and passing beliefs and values from one generation to another.Through practical activities, they developed their creative writing, storytelling, communication and imaginative thinking skills. Creating their own stories allowed them to transform the knowledge they had acquired into original works and engage actively with their cultural heritage. By combining historical and cultural learning with creative expression, the workshops helped students recognise the continuing importance of legends as part of our shared heritage.
