PL25 EC LG Animals in language - creating board games

Students worked in groups of four. Each team had the task to design a board game (for example: domino, memory, matching cards) using any digital program of their choice (e.g. Canva, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Publisher, etc.). The board games had to include: around 30 cards each, a mix of animals, plants, and idioms connected to them, multilingual elements (at least two foreign languages, e.g. Italian, Estonian, English, Polish). Students were free to choose the format, layout, and style of their game. Creativity, originality, and linguistic accuracy were especially encouraged. When completed, the games were exported into PDF format and uploaded to the eTwinning platform for sharing and further playtesting.During the activity, students exchanged ideas enthusiastically and learned how to collaborate in an international digital environment. They also improved their vocabulary and digital design skills while discovering interesting cultural connections between languages. The final collection of games turned out to be both educational and entertaining, and several of them were later used in language classes.
The outcome was a collection of original board games, including memory sets with animals, domino games with e.g. animals or idiomatic expressions, and matching cards with pictures and translations. Students not only practiced language skills but also exercised critical thinking, design, and teamwork. The ready-made games can now be used as learning tools in classrooms and shared with partner schools.
