Before creating new sensory gardens, students and teachers were sightseeing the school park that was previously adjusted to visually impaired people’s needs. Then students were provided with gardening tools, soil, bark, and ornamental plants, mainly perennials such as irises, asters, phlox, lavender, echinacea, and hostas.
Divided into three groups of twelve, they were tasked with creating their own little sensory gardens in the school park. Each group had to carefully choose the plants, design the layout, plant them, and secure the area. After completing the task, each group was given a wooden plate to write their names on and install it next to their flower bed, making their work visible and personal.

The students also prepared short oral presentations explaining their design choices and how their gardens could stimulate different senses. Teachers praised their commitment and teamwork, emphasizing the importance of cooperation and environmental awareness. The project ended with a small exhibition walk around the park, where participants proudly presented their finished gardens to classmates and visitors.
The result was the creation of three new vertical flower beds with pollinator-friendly and insect-friendly plants. Students learned the basic rules of designing sensory gardens, planting, protection of the environment and  a local ecosystem. The flower beds now form part of a sensory park, serving both an educational and aesthetic function.
