IT25 TD The gesture in a photo
01 févr. 2026This educational activity is part of the macro action “Communiquer” of the Erasmus+ RACINE+ project and derived from a careful observation of Palermo's historic markets, emblematic places of tradition, culture and city identity. During a teaching visit, the students, in pairs, explored the markets, documenting the experience through photographs and videos that captured the typical gestures of the vendors and their characteristic vocal calls used to attract customers and sell the goods. Through videos and photos, the students captured the communicative, cultural and identity value of these daily practices. Subsequently, the students were divided into two groups. The first group selected the most representative and significant images and videos of traditional local gestures. The second group wrote explanatory captions of the gestures that had been captured. The final result was the creation of a multimedia exhibition that highlights, through images and videos, the importance of gestures as a means of communication, enhancing the city's cultural, historical, and artistic heritage. The work carried out allowed students to reflect on the value of gestures as a tool for expression and social communication. Through the visual and multimedia representation of historical markets, students understood the importance of describing a particular aspect of their city and its identity.
