The students watched a digital presentation prepared by the Italian team describing some typical Sicilian gestures and, with the help of the Italian students, discovered their meaning taking part actively in miming and guessing games. After breathing of bit of Sicilian culture and body language, the students visited an online multimedia exhibition named " A gesture in a photo", a collection of photos and videos taken by some students of our school who, during a teaching visit, had explored the historical markets in Palermo capturing with photos and videos the typical gestures of the vendors and their characteristic vocal calls used to attract customers and sell the goods, thus stressing the communicative, cultural and identity value of these daily practices. Then, the Erasmus+ students  participated in a survey using a QR code to vote for the best photo and video among those previously taken by their Italian classmates visiting Palermo's historic markets. The winning students explained the meaning of their photos/videos and received a prize.

Through this activity, students improved their ability to reflect on the value of gestures as a tool for expression and social communication.

They also developed a greater awareness of cultural diversity, showing a greater understanding of similarities and differences in body language.
