The main aim of the competition was to promote and popularise the poetry of Władysław Broniewski, an outstanding poet and a graduate of our school, among young people. The event also aimed to encourage students to read poetry, develop sensitivity to literature, and deepen their interest in cultural heritage connected with their local community.
Additionally, the competition helped students develop public speaking skills, correct pronunciation, interpretation of poetic texts, self-confidence, and the ability to perform in front of an audience and a jury.
The recitation competition of poems by Władysław Broniewski was organised by our school and held on its premises as the official headquarters of the organisers. The event was widely promoted among primary and secondary schools in the entire county. Thanks to this wide promotion, the competition attracted a large number of participants representing different schools and age groups.
Participants were required to choose one poem by Władysław Broniewski and recite it from memory. Before the performances, students had the opportunity to prepare their interpretations under the guidance of their teachers, which significantly influenced the high artistic level of the presentations. The performances took place in front of a jury composed of Polish language teachers and representatives of local culture, including a well-known poet, an actor from the municipal theatre, and an outstanding Polish language teacher.
Students from primary schools and secondary schools were evaluated in separate categories. The competition was conducted in a friendly and respectful atmosphere, encouraging young people to express themselves and share their passion for poetry. The competition was held under the honorary patronage of the City Council.
The winners received attractive prizes funded, among others, by the City Council. For primary school students, winning the competition also counted as additional points in the recruitment process for secondary schools.
The event successfully fulfilled its educational and cultural objectives by promoting poetry, strengthening ties with local cultural traditions, and motivating young people to engage more deeply with literature.
